A.G. awards 2023 Graduates Scholarships

Mr. Edwin Lewis and wife, Gwendolyn, have owned the Associated Grocers (A.G.) store, GEL Enterprizes, since 2016. Within those seven years they have given out over seventy scholarships to students who have worked for their company and graduated from high school. Many have used the skills they were taught while working at A.G., to go on to become successful in their adult lives.

Hall’s XRoads vandalized and robbed

Jill Hall, former educator and current owner of Hall’s XRoads, a convenience store located at the four corners of US Highway 223 and County Road 14, found upon opening that her store had been vandalized and robbed. Hall stated that sometime after 7 p.m., after closing on May 19th, and 5:30 a.m., opening May 20th, a couple young people broke the door to her store using a ramrod the suspects found behind the dumpster.

Bullock County High recognizes valedictorian, and salutatorian who happen to be best friends

Bullock County High recently held its 2023 commencement ceremony and honored the class valedictorian and salutatorian. In addition to this being a remarkable story due to the high level of academic and extracurricular success enjoyed by the two young ladies who won this distinction, both of the ladies are also very best friends, and they have been close for years.

Imagine working more than thirteen years for one piece of paper. Parents drop their children off at daycare with the hope of them graduating from high school one day. The first day of kindergarten is part of the process which leads to the infamous pomp and circumstance, cap and gown.

Bullock County ladies present Arts at Pioneer Museum

The ARTS were well represented in a historical setting in Troy named the Pioneer Museum. The annual Thunder on the Three Notch, made possible by a “Sweet Home Alabama” grant, was full of demonstrations to the public regarding our “early pioneer-skill developing days.”

Vines hired as BCHS football coach

The Bullock County High School team begins summer football under first-year Head Coach Jeremy Vines. This is Coach Vines first head coaching position, but he's been coaching in Bullock and Montgomery Counties for over five years; most recently, he spent last season as the Pike Road High School defensive line coach.

Liberty Learning Foundation and USES honor local heroes

The Liberty Learning Foundation, which is a non-profit organization facilitating active civics and character programs in K-12 classrooms and orchestrating immersive events that empower schools, parents, local leaders, and businesses to take ownership of the future of the community and country, has been working with the second graders at Union Springs Elementary School for the last ten weeks. They have been learning about their important roles in America’s future.
