The New Direction Child Care Facility’s Pre-K class visited the Union Springs Carnegie Library on Friday, March 14, with the sole purpose of reinforcing and assuring the students that reading can be exciting, cool, and fun.

South Highlands Middle School saw an unprecedented turnout at its Community Data Night, where parents and students gathered to explore the connections between ACAP scores, the State Report Card, and local workforce opportunities. Principal Peterson, alongside community leaders like Attorney Lynn Jinks, emphasized the vital role of education in shaping Bullock County’s future. On Wednesday, March 12, the Hornets traveled to the capital city for a doubleheader against the Wolverines of Carver High School, Montgomery. Bullock County already faced Carver on February 20, losing 15-0 in their first meeting.
In the first game, the Hornets had an 8-6 lead in the third inning but gave up 11 runs. With the 11-run inning, the Wolverines took a commanding 17-8 win with the game ending after the bottom of the third.
Honey Gray is a sweet, shy, and gentle soul who is waiting for someone to adopt her and make her a part of their family. She has been at an off-site location but has recently returned to the shelter and would like to meet you. She is great with other dogs. She is spayed, and up to date on her shots including her rabies vaccination. She is currently on flea and heartworm prevention. She’s roughly three years old and weighs around 50 pounds.

There were debates as to whether or not to reschedule the Annual Cruising to Clothe a Child Car Show held on Saturday, March 8, which is always sponsored by The Wild Hoggs Classic Car Club, however the big day arrived and car enthusiasts from all of Bullock County and across the state showed up in droves as the sun made its presence from behind the clouds.

The Bullock County Voters League was host to a Town Hall meeting on Sunday, March 2, at the Richard B. Stone Complex. The motto of the Voters League is “Working to make Bullock County a better place during our lifetime.” Its 50th anniversary was celebrated at the 2024 annual banquet.
