During a recent Bullock County Historical meeting, resident Becky Stuart shared two portraits of members of the Tate Family. The portraits are of George Tate and an unknown woman. The portraits are on display at the Union Springs Library in hopes that more information can be obtained from residents concerning the family.

The City of Union Springs held their regular meeting on Monday, April 21, at 6:00 p.m. in the basement of the Bullock County Courthouse. After a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, roll was called and all city council-persons were present. Both the hearing minutes and council minutes from the April 7 meeting were approved followed by Councilman Murry taking item 4: Purchasing of body Cameras, off the agenda.

The Union Springs Carnegie Public Library celebrated Easter with a fun and exciting Easter Egg Contest at the beginning of April. “The Easter Egg contest was a huge success, and we want to thank all who participated. Children can come pick up their eggs,” said Beverly “Honey” Grant, the library’s dedicated librarian. The grand prize winners were Khalei Flintroy, Armani McClendon, and Mil Slandine.

The Model Garden Club met on April 15 in Union Springs at The Josephine Art Center, owned by Joyce Perrin. Hostesses for the monthly meeting were Betty Maxwell and Suzanne Forrer. Following a brief business meeting, Master Gardener Janell Diggs did a presentation on Cooking with Rosemary.
Meet Midori, a curious, affectionate, playful, smart cat. Midori is a stunning Lynx Point Siamese with a big personality. She is curious, loving, and still quite playful for being approximately two years old. Midori has been spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is looking for a forever home. She is good with other cats, but would just as easily transition to being a solo kitty in someone’s home.

The Alabama Christian Athletic Association (ACAA) Archery Championship wrapped up on Thursday, April 17, 2025. The elementary and Junior Genesis shooters from across the state competed in the Conecuh Springs Christian School gymnasium. Six teams competed for the Junior championship, and Pineview Christian School from Madison County took home the first-place trophy.

Janyiah Williams proudly represented Bullock County as a member of the Dancing Beats of Montgomery at their first competition of the season. A standout performer, Janyiah is the granddaughter of Katie Williams of Union Springs.

A high-speed chase through Bullock County came to a dramatic end Thursday afternoon when a juvenile suspect was apprehended in the backyard of a Peachburg Road residence—just steps away from the Union Springs Herald and Adams Pecan offices.
