The Midway Nutrition Center treated its members to a relaxing spa day on November 13, as Ms. Cleopratha Upshaw and her daughter, Tiffany, demonstrated simple techniques to soften hands and keep them moisturized for hours.

Bullock County Humane Society Pet of the Week

Meet Smurf, an adorable Pit mix who came to the shelter on May 25, when he was just 8 weeks old. Now a lively young pup, Smurf is as cute as a button and full of playful energy.

He’s very friendly and gets along well with other dogs. Smurf previously shared a kennel with his buddy Kellie (who has since gone to rescue), and now it’s his turn to find a forever home. Shelter staff hope to see him adopted soon so he doesn’t have to grow up in the shelter.

Bullock County holds 31st Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Bullock County joined communities across the nation in honoring the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The 31st Annual Bullock County Veterans Day Ceremony was held Tuesday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the Richard B. Stone Complex.

The program was presented by American Legion Post 2016, Bell Cook-Hopson Auxiliary Unit #337, Bullock County Extension, and the Tourism Council of Bullock County.

Quiet afternoon turns tragic as fire devours home

The Union Springs Fire Department responded to a 911 call reporting a structure fire at a residence on Waugh Street on Sunday afternoon. The call came in at approximately 2:20 p.m., and when fire crews arrived, the home was already fully engulfed in flames.

Bullock County Rescue aids hunter after tree stand fall

Bullock County Rescue responded to an emergency call from the Bullock County Sheriff’s Department to County Road 34 in Midway to assist Haynes Ambulance with a medical emergency involving a hunter who had fallen approximately 15 feet from his tree stand.
