Falling crosswalk sign foils daylight theft attempt

On the afternoon of Thursday, April 3, as local librarian Beverly “Honey” Grant (left) and local store owner Joyce Perrin (not pictured) were conversing, they heard a loud thud as a black pick-up truck drove by them. The noise was caused by the brand-new pedestrian crosswalk sign falling out of the back of the truck. They called Police Chief Johnny Potts (right) and he helped them put the sign back where it belonged, in the crosswalk between City Hall and the Bullock County Courthouse. Photo by Joyce Perrin.
