Mayor Clark held Town Meeting

Union Springs Mayor Roderick Clark held a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Richard B. Stone Building on Highway 82 East. Sixteen people attended the meeting, none of which included the City Council Board Members. Those in attendance voiced their concerns about several different subjects. The meeting started promptly at 6 p.m.

Bullock County Black Belt Artist Stephanie Wingard wins second place in competition

Black Belt Artist, Stephanie Wingard showcased her “Crater Waves” piece in the  2023 Wetumpka Impact Crater Art Competition on September 17, 2023 where she won second place. Wingard, a Bullock County Art Guild member, was part of the twenty-five paintings that made the final cut to move on to the juried phase.

Family looking for information following the murder of Randy Thorne

Randy Thorne, 62, fell victim to a heinous murder somewhere in the late hours of Sunday, September 10 or the early hours of Monday, September 11, 2023, when he reportedly succumbed to a shotgun wound while sleeping in his bed in Banks, Alabama.

The Bullock County Historical Society to hold meeting

The Bullock County Historical Society October 8th meeting will have vintage and new quits on display.  The history of the quilt and the quilt maker will be part of the presentation. Hornets Shutout at Home Opener

On Friday, September 15, 2023, the Hornets had their first game of the 2023  season. The opponent: The Andalusia High School Bulldogs. The Bulldogs came into  Union Springs with an undefeated record of 3-0 so far in the season. Bullock County  looked forward to give theHornets’ fan based something to be excited about to start  their weekend.

Bullock County Humane Society Pet of the Week!

Hi everyone! My name is Cujo and I am a 3 year old Mastiff Mix. I was found living behind the Bullock County DHR building for about a week before the Animal Control Officer was able to capture me. I was very scared but the people at the Humane Society have been very nice to me and give me belly rubs and treats. I’m good with other dogs and I love to play with kids. I’m not fond of cats, however. I am up to date on all of my shots but I’m not neutered yet. I don’t know what that means, but it has something to do with making puppies.

Red Door Theatre presents ‘Til Beth Do Us Part

The Red Door Theatre's 20th Year Celebration continued with the second show of the season ‘Til Beth Do Us Part. Under the direction of Kathryn Adams Wood, the show ran July 20-23, 2023. Sold-out audiences loved this comic romp about marriage and careers. The show was presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., NY. The cast and crew are pictured. Front - Melissa Bass, Kathryn Adams Wood, Beth Beasley, Johanna Hubbard, Beth Mathews, and Jay Moorer.
