Marathon burglarized in early morning hours

On the morning of Wednesday, May 29, the Marathon gas station at the corner of Blackmon Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard was burglarized at approximately 4:15 a.m. by a masked man, dressed in black and wearing a black headwrap, later identified at 48 year-old Dontay Goshay of Union Springs.

Auburn police arrest Union Springs man for electronic solicitation of a child

Auburn police say a Union Springs man has been arrested for electronic solicitation of a child.

Officials say they met with a complainant who reported that a suspect used electronic communication to contact a child for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity. The communication occurred between May 7 and May 8, 2024.

26-year-old Eric Francois Williams-Bell was developed as a suspect, and an arrest warrant was obtained after further investigation.

Jubilee Justice brings Rice Farming to Bullock County

On May 21, Jubilee Justice brought their system of growing rice to Bullock County and gave me a first-hand explanation of what they are doing. Konda Mason and Erika Stryger have been working with Collie Graddick, Farm Educator for the Community CO-OP, for the last few years to integrate the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) Approach in South Alabama and chose a plot of land in Bullock County to do so.

Bullock County Humane Society Pet of the week!

Well we have said it before, it’s kitten and puppy season! We have loads of sweet babies soon to become available and under a “foster-to-adopt” program until they are fully vetted and spayed/neutered. If you can’t wait that long for your new perfect companion we always have both kitty’s and dogs already up-to-date on all vaccinations and ready for immediate adoption.

National Open Dog Shooting Championship

The 63rd renewal of the prestigious National Open Shooting Dog Championship began Monday, February 5th and concluded Tuesday, February 13th.  A string of 58, which included 53 pointers and 5 setters were drawn to compete for the best of the best.  Seventeen of the most renowned, professional and amateur dog handlers vied for the title of their dog to be named Champion.

The Annual Bullock County Kids Fishing Derby to be held

The Annual Bullock County Kids’ Fishing Derby will be held at the Wehle Nature Center on Saturday,

June 8. This is a fantastic opportunity for families to get together and teach their children how to fish or let them show off how well they can fish! All counties in the surrounding area are invited to enjoy a day of youth fishing.
