This sweet girl is Leta. She craves the love and attention that she desperately needs. She is sweet and affectionate. She just wants a family to adopt her and give her a loving home. Leta is dog-friendly, spayed, and on flea and heartworm prevention. She is up to date on her shots including her rabies vaccination. She is heartworm negative. Shelter staff has estimated Leta to be between three and four years old and weighs roughly 65 pounds.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, observed annually on the third Monday of January, is a federal holiday in the United States honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A leader of the Civil Rights Movement, King dedicated his life to advancing racial equality, justice, and human rights through nonviolent activism. This day serves not only as a celebration of his achievements but also as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for social justice and equality.

I am writing this with a heavy heart, burdened by the tragic loss of my son, LeRon Holmes, a loving father of two young boys, ages five and nine. On Friday, January 10, LeRon’s life was senselessly taken in Tuskegee, Alabama. This devastating act of violence has forever changed our family, leaving us to grapple with unimaginable pain while trying to find strength for his two sons who are now left without their father.
