Wallace B. Harris celebrates student success with scholarships

Bullock County High School held its Senior Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 18, 2026, in the school gymnasium, recognizing students for their academic achievements and accomplishments throughout the school year.

Among those giving back during the ceremony was Wallace B. Harris, a 1976 graduate of Bullock County High School, who believes strongly in supporting students who may not always be selected for traditional scholarships and awards.

Putnam awarded Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation Scholarship

Bullock County Humane Society Pet of the Week

Friday, a sweet and affectionate dog currently housed at the Bullock County Humane Society, is still searching for her forever home after spending more than two years at the shelter. Friday has been at the shelter since December 22, 2023, and despite her loving personality, shelter staff says she has received zero inquiries from potential adopters.

Missing since 2023: Search for Steven Peel continues

Steven Peel disappeared from Union Springs in August 2023.

He was last seen in the Locke Court area wearing jeans and an unknown shirt. Since his disappearance, there has been little information about where he may have gone or what happened after he was last seen on August 5, 2023.

When someone vanishes without explanation, families are left replaying the final moments over and over, hoping for the one detail that changes everything.

One injured in serious crash on Peachburg Road

The Union Springs Police Department responded to a serious single-vehicle accident on Peachburg Road at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5.

According to a witness at the scene, the driver of a red pickup truck was traveling erratically before reportedly overcorrecting, causing the vehicle to flip into the air. The truck overturned before ultimately coming to rest on the driver’s side.
