Strong storm causes damage in Bullock County

Last Wednesday’s storms hit Union Springs throughout the evening and into the late hours of the night. Several citizens in our community suffered damage from the storm, but it was mostly minimal damage compared to some.

Ms. Faye Gaston woke up and went about her normal routine on Thursday morning not noticing, at first, that the once beautiful tree that stood tall in her backyard, was now laying on its side and had crushed her two car garage that was built the same year as her home, in 1910.

Fashion Talk with Nazz

It's April and due to the rise and fall of the weather, we don't know how we need to dress. Should we dress in Spring attire or mild Winter attire? Springtime temperatures are different almost every day. In fashion, there are so many styles and options that you can wear and still be on trend and stay comfortable, especially pants. Variations of pants are still popular, this season, the “Chit and Chatter” has been about Capri pants making a comeback.

Chunnenuggee Garden Club hosted by Sadie Pugh

The Chunnenuggee Garden Club met on April 11, 2024 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Sadie Pugh, hostess.  Barbara Cox, Vice-President, prayed the Gardeners' Collect. Club President Faye Gaston presented a certificate of life membership into the Garden Club of Alabama, Inc. (GCA)  to Karen Hall.  The Chunnenuggee Garden Club submitted the nomination with a donation to the GCA scholarship fund for students majoring to be horticulturists, landscape designers, or foresters.

Dancing Beats of Montgomery

Bullock County Humane Society Pet of the Week

This week’s featured pet is Pugsley! When he was brought to the shelter his sister, Wednesday, was with him. She has since been adopted and unfortunately, January 25, 2024 was Puglsey’s one year anniversary of being at the shelter. This playful, adorable, loving, affectionate, sweet boy has spent the last 415 days at the shelter waiting for his chance to be adopted.

Sozo Children’s Choir of Uganda visited Conecuh Springs Christian School

Conecuh Springs Christian School was pleased to host special visitors last Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The Sozo Children’s Choir of Uganda made a special visit to the school and blessed the students and faculty with their musical talents and traditional dances.

As millions of eclipse watchers from Mexico, the United States, and parts of Canada stopped what they were doing to go outside and look up at the magnificent sight of the moon crossing between the Earth and the Sun, several here in town were also taking that same advantage on Monday, April 8.
