Veterans Town Hall draws impressive attendance

The American Legion Post 2016 hosted its first Veterans Town Hall on April 20 for military veterans and their family members who live in and around Bullock County.

CWS repairs water line on Ellis Street

On Wednesday, April 17, a Clear Water Solutions (CWS) crew began repairs on a busted water line on Ellis Street. The crew began their work at approximately 9 a.m. that morning and by 4 p.m. they had found the problem and were doing what was needed to find the solution for the repair.

High and Perrin attend Garden Club of Alabama Annual Convention

Beth High of Perote, AL and Joyce Perrin of Union Springs traveled to Opelika, AL to attend the Garden Club of Alabama, Inc. Annual Convention on Monday, April 15. High and Perrin are lifetime members of the Garden Club of Alabama (GCA). Perrin is also an active member of Chunnenuggee Garden Club in Union Springs.

Johnny Ford explained.

Bullock County High School Students recently attended the Agriculture (AG) Career Day at Landmark Park in Dothan, Alabama which was organized by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and Auburn University. During this exciting event, our Future Farmers of America members had the opportunity to dive into the world of agriculture and explore various career paths in the industry.

I loved all the different colors that were available. Those were the days when every step I took made me feel like I was channeling the spirit of a tennis champion. Those shoes became a symbol of my childhood and the joy and energy they brought me.

Bullock County Hospital to become a Rural Emergency Hospital

Rumors of the Bullock County Hospital (BCH) have spread widely throughout Bullock County, however, Chief Nursing Officer, Amanda Trawick assures that the Hospital is not closing, however, they are becoming a Rural Emergency Hospital. “I am hoping to lay the rumors to rest about us closing. We are transitioning to become a Rural Emergency Hospital. In order to do this, we did have to close our Adult Psych and Geriatric Psych programs,” stated Trawick.

Bullock County Board of Education toys with canceling the Pre-K Program at USES

A heated topic arose at the last Bullock County Board of Education (BOE) meeting held on Thursday, April 11, 2024. The topic in question; “Do we keep the Pre-K program open at Union Springs Elementary School?” Decisions have not been set in stone. After a conversation with BOE President, LaDerrick Caldwell, he ensures that the decision has not been reached on the cancellation of the Pre-K program, but it is a probability that may happen.
