Students sacrifice summer for humane society

By Felicia Farnsworth

The Bullock County Humane Society has been very lucky this summer to have the help of two amazing young volunteers. Emmie Baker and Malia Lewis have spent the last two months helping to maintain the very full animal shelter in Bullock County. The shelter is currently at its maximum capacity with 82 dogs and 117 cats. Maximum capacity requires a hands-on approach to ensure cleanliness is maintained, animals are fed and receive any medical treatments, as well as being provided opportunities for exercise.

She is sharing a kennel with another female, so she is dog friendly but can be cat tested. Henrietta is up-to-date on her shots, including a one-year rabies vaccination, and she is on a flea and heartworm preventative.
