On Thursday, July 11 storm clouds came rolling in at the Union Springs Herald office, unfortunately they kept on rolling by never spilling a drop of rain in Union Springs. (Photo by Felicia Farnsworth)

The Bullock County Art Guild, which normally holds its meetings on the first Thursday of every month, held their July meeting on July 11 because of the July 4th holiday. Ten members were present for this month’s meeting, which was called to order by President Philip Duvic at 12:04 p.m.
The business portion of the meeting included the approval of the minutes from June’s meeting, as well as the Treasurer’s Report, which remains unchanged.
This beautiful lady is Carla. She is a 2 1/2 year old Australian Blue Heeler/Mix, who is a very sweet and affectionate pup. She loves getting out in the play yard to run around and get loved on by the workers at the Bullock County Humane Society. She is as sweet as she can be and was so grateful when the humane society saved her off the streets as a stray with another pup in April 2023.

Olivia Claire Harris celebrated her sixth birthday with a festive 4th of July theme, which is only fitting as the national holiday doubles as her birthday. The festivities included two water slides, fishing, golf cart rides, and a special young man, Jonathan Jacobson, who created balloon figures and swords for the children who attended the party. Approximately 20 friends along with many family members were in attendance for her big day.

For the first time in four years, the city hosted the 4th of July Fun Day, a free event, for the community at Ed Farrior Park. The last time the City of Union Springs hosted a fireworks show was before the COVID-19 pandemic.
