The fall and September equinox: A time of balance

By Felicia Farnsworth

The September equinox, also known as the autumnal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, marks a moment of celestial significance. It signals the beginning of fall, ushering in cooler weather, changing leaves, and shorter days. But what is the connection between the fall season and the September equinox? And why do these two events occur at the same time each year? Understanding the relationship between them involves exploring the science of Earth's movements and the changes they bring to our seasons.

Bullock County Humane Society pet of the week!

Padgett is a beautiful 4 1/2-year-old Manx orange tabby who is looking for the perfect home to call his own. Padgett has been neutered, is FIV/FeLV negative, and is up to date on vaccines and rabies. While Padgett is no drama and gets along well with all our kitties, his true personality shines when he’s one-on-one or in a home by himself or with just one other kitty. He is extremely affectionate and loves to be held. He also loves catnip and will chew, roll, and jump in a catnip plant for hours until no traces remain.
