The Union Springs Police Department continues its commitment to protecting and serving the community, reporting a relatively quiet week while maintaining a strong police presence throughout the city.
According to the department's weekly activity report, Chief Johnny L. Potts III responded to two incident/offense (I/O) reports. Cpl. Lewis also handled two I/O reports during the reporting period.

The Union Springs City Council met Monday, July 20, at City Hall, conducting city business that included public safety personnel, community concerns about blight, and routine financial approvals.

Union Springs native Kaprice Dickerson has reached an important milestone in her military career after successfully completing Basic Combat Training with the 3rd Battalion, 13th Infantry Regiment, 193rd Infantry Brigade at Fort Jackson on July 1. Proudly enlisted in the United States Army, Dickerson has attained the rank of Private Second Class with this milestone.
The Bullock County Humane Society is hoping to find a loving forever home for Friday, a gentle and affectionate dog who has been patiently waiting for someone to give her the life she deserves. Estimated to be between 2 and 3 years old and weighing approximately 50 to 55 pounds, Friday has a sweet, submissive personality and gets along well with other dogs. She currently shares a kennel with her companion, Bucky, and the two enjoy spending time together whenever they are able to get outside into the play yard.

A Union Springs man lost his life in a two-vehicle collision Friday morning in Bullock County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
The crash occurred at approximately 9 a.m. on July 10 along Alabama Highway 110 near the 18-mile marker, about 12 miles west of Union Springs.
