Country music legend, songwriter, actress, and philanthropist Dolly Parton died Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 80. Her death marks the end of an extraordinary career, but the impact of her generosity and commitment to children will continue in communities across the country, including Bullock County.

Football officially returned to Conecuh Springs Christian School on Friday, Aug. 21, marking the Eagles' first gridiron action since 2023. CSCS kicked off its season at home against a formidable Clay County Christian Academy squad from Ashland, AL.

Bullock County seniors will have an opportunity to enjoy a day of fishing, fellowship, and the outdoors during the Annual Bullock County Senior Citizen Fishing Derby on Saturday, September 12.
The event will be held at the Wehle Nature Center, located at 4819 Pleasant Hill Road in Midway, and will coincide with National Grandparents Weekend.

Wednesday, August 26, 2026, is National Dog Day, a day set aside to celebrate the special place dogs hold in the lives of people while also bringing attention to dogs that are still waiting for loving homes.
Adoptions have been slow at the Bullock County Humane Society, and as a rural shelter, the organization does not receive a lot of foot traffic. However, one handsome shelter resident is hoping to change that.
Tuffy, a 5-year-old dog, has been waiting for his forever home since arriving at the shelter as a stray on September 1, 2025. The Humane Society is inviting potential adopters to visit Tuffy and the other animals at the shelter who are all in need of loving homes.
Montgomery – Governor Kay Ivey on August 25 announced the activation of a statewide notification system to more quickly alert the public in the event of floods and other disasters. The action follows the governor’s January 13 State of the State address during which she revealed $1.2 million in funding had been set aside to launch the new emergency notification system this year.
