Ka’Darian (KD) Hill, former Ole Miss Rebel and Bullock County native, was involved in a career-ending accident on Saturday, July 26, 2023 when the vehicle he was traveling in with his brother veered off the road and struck a tree on Interstate 65 in Cullman, Alabama. According to a facebook post made by Hill himself, his leg was amputated at the scene of the crash after having been pinned by the motor for over five hours.
One month before the accident he was drafted by the Orlando Guardians of the XFL. Prior to being drafted he was invited to camp with the New York Jets as a free agent in May. The 23-year old Bullock County native and new father, was seen walking just days after having his right leg amputated. He said to the camera man, “This is what you do when you have the heart of a lion, you don’t stop. Because it’s bigger than you.”
Another Facebook post has him saying, “Don’t y’all worry about me. I am doing great!! Haven’t shed a tear or questioned God! Me and my mom are blessed and happy I’m here. DO NOT FEEL BAD FOR ME. I AM STRONG. I can handle this. Thank you all and can’t respond to everyone but love y’all.”
This courageous young man is not finished serving others, even while in a hospital bed. Oxford Housing Authority sent him get well cards and his family and friends back home both in Eufaula and Union Springs are praying for him and his family. There has been a Go Fund Me set up to help his family with medical costs- KD Hill Injury - 2022 Chucky Mullins Award Winner.
