As the federal government shutdown drags on, residents of Bullock County reliant on SNAP benefits face growing uncertainty. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has warned that it will not tap into its contingency funds to continue issuing regular SNAP payments during this lapse in funding. In more than 40 million households nationwide, benefits may be delayed or halted entirely if the impasse persists.
