Staff Reports

Our community experienced a great travesty in the loss of a historical building in downtown Union Springs over the weekend. This building housed two operating businesses, Union Springs Pharmacy and La Azteca. “This horrendous crime endangered the safety and well-being of our citizens and their property. This deliberate act of arson is a direct assault on the sense of security that our residents deserve,” stated Mayor Clark

“Local authorities are actively investigating the incident and additional resources are being deployed to aid in the investigation. My deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies go out to the Stewarts and Tony Colorado for the loss of their businesses and property. Our community will stand with you during this difficult time.  Such a violent act has no place in our community and we will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to justice,” said Mayor Clark.

“Special thank you to all who sent their support during this difficult time. Thank you to the first responders who showed up without a query and were ready to work for their neighbors! We appreciate you greatly,” stated Mayor Clark.
