The Chunnenuggee Garden Club recently gathered at the site of their historic gardens, originally organized as the Chunnenuggee Ridge Horticultural Society on March 6, 1847, along Peachburg Road. On a beautiful day perfectly suited for the occasion, club members recently enjoyed one of their signature summer getaway meetings amidst the natural charm of this significant location.
Shelby is an extremely loving, sweet, and submissive pup who is waiting for her forever home. She’s up to date on all of her shots, including her rabies vaccine, and is currently receiving flea and heartworm prevention. She is heartworm positive, so she is available for foster-to-adopt in order to be treated for the heartworms. The Bullock County Schools nutrition teams have once again demonstrated excellence during the recent quarterly health inspections. Union Springs Elementary School and South Highlands Middle School each received a score of 98, while Bullock County High School earned an outstanding score of 99. These high marks reflect the hard work, professionalism, and commitment of the nutrition staff, who take great pride in providing students with safe, clean, and nutritious meals every day.

For the past eight years, Edwin Lewis, owner of Associated Grocers, also known as AG, in Union Springs, and his wife, Gwen, have gone beyond simply offering high school students part-time jobs. They’ve provided them with meaningful real-world experiences and, for graduating seniors, a special scholarship to help launch the next chapter of their lives. These scholarships can be used not only for college but for any personal or professional needs as students move forward.

Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) have launched an investigation into an officer-involved shooting involving a Trooper assigned to ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
This black beauty is Marla, a young, sweet girl who would love to have a soft bed to sleep on in a loving home. She is dog-friendly and good with children. Marla is up to date on her shots, including her rabies vaccination. She is currently on a flea and heartworm preventative and is heartworm negative. She has also been spayed. She is patiently waiting for her forever family to adopt her.
