What should have been a night out with friends turned deadly for Delvin Tarver in the early morning hours of May 4 of this year. Along with a few of his friends, Tarver, an 18-year-old Auburn High School honor student, set out to Union Springs for a party that would follow Bullock County High School’s Senior Prom.

The Bullock County Art Guild (BCAG) held its monthly meeting at the Josephine Art Center in downtown Union Springs on Thursday, August 8, at noon. President Philip Duvic opened the meeting by welcoming the eight members in attendance. The group discussed both old and new business, including upcoming downtown window projects for the fall and potential art endeavors in the local area for the future.

The Union Springs City Council held their first meeting this month on Monday, August 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bullock County Courthouse (Chamber). Mayor Roderick Clark called the meeting to order. July minutes were approved. There was no old business.

David Padgett, Economic Developer for the Bullock County Development Authority, has been selected to join the prestigious Class XXXIV of Leadership Alabama. This statewide program, which brings together Alabama’s leaders from across the state, seeks to create a network of relationships seeking mutual understanding of Alabama’s most pressing issues. The class will commence on October 16 in Montgomery.
