Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day, celebrating the end of World War I. The occasion was the signing of the Armistice between the Allies and Germany, at 11:00 a.m., November 11, 1918. The annual holiday was celebrated in honor of the Veterans of World War I, known as the war, to end all wars. Following World War II, service Veterans from that war and the Korean Conflict were included in the Armistice Day Celebration.
