Clothing drive and giveaway fulfilled several needs

Over the last month, members of our community have dropped off gently used or new jackets, blankets, warm clothes, and shoes for others who may be in greater need. This event was held on Saturday, December 28 at Adams Pecan, LLC. Angelica Byrd, owner of We Do Care, LLC., conceived the idea and followed through with the help of Kim Graham and Johnny Adams.

USES BETA Club rings bell for Christmas

Members of the USES BETA Club brought laughter and cheer to customers at AG Grocery in Union Springs, Alabama, as they rang the bell for the Salvation Army this Christmas season. Hornets’ Holiday Hoop Weekend in Auburn

Before the Christmas break, the Hornets had a 3-game showcase at Auburn for the Auburn High School Christmas Tournament. Bullock County hoped to end 2024 on a good note.

Bullock County Humane Society pet of the week!

Meet Walter, who has been in foster care for two years and is desperately searching for his forever home! He is the most agile of kitties and can easily jump up on and scale the smallest of surfaces (stair railings, balconies, window sills, and Christmas trees to name a few). Walter is also good at catching things such as bugs, frogs, lizards, and yes, a couple of baby snakes. While Walter has been allowed to venture outside during the days at the farm where he is being fostered, he is the first one to tell you it’s time to come in early in the evening. Why?

Midway Nutrition Site celebrates with a Holiday Paint Party

Seniors at the Midway Nutrition Site kicked off the holiday season in style with a Christmas Holiday Paint Party. This joyful event was hosted by Angelica Byrd, owner of We Do Care, LLC. This was the perfect way to unwind and get into the holiday spirit. Guests enjoyed Christmas jazz tunes, a delightful snack, and sparkling grape juice, making for a truly unforgettable experience. “We're thrilled to serve our community and are grateful to those who joined in on the fun,” stated Byrd.

Bama Quail Bill Harkins Memorial Youth Trial

Congratulations to all the kids who participated in the Bama Quail Youth Field Trial on Sunday, December 8 in Tuskegee. This was the 22nd consecutive Bama Quail youth trial on these grounds making it the longest consecutively run youth field trial on the same grounds in America!

Black Belt Community Foundation Annual Community Associates Retreat

The Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF) hosted its Annual Community Associates retreat on December 8th-10th at the Auburn Marriott Opelika Resort Grand National.  There were seventy-nine participants from across the 12-county service area of the BBCF which include Bullock, Choctaw, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumter and Wilcox counties.

On Thursday evening the weather cooperated nicely and there was a Christmas feel in the crisp cool air as Chilly’s 3rd Annual Christmas Lights Parade was held on December 19, which started at 6:00 p.m.
