History in focus: BCHS meeting to highlight Fort Davis and upcoming Golden Jubilee

The Bullock County Historical Society (BCHS) will hold its quarterly meeting on Sunday, October 12, at the Union Springs Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Non-members of the BCHS are encouraged to attend and become part of the Society’s goal of Historic Preservation of our diverse culture and unique Churches, Public Buildings, business buildings, and homes.

Alabama Voices launches with “Alabama Foodways” by Folklorist Joyce Cauthen

Union Springs — A brand-new cultural series debuts in Bullock County this fall, and it begins right at the dinner table. The Tourism Council of Bullock County and the Red Door Theatre are proud to announce the launch of Alabama Voices, an engaging series of public presentations that celebrate the state’s rich heritage through the lenses of food, art, sports, and storytelling.

BCHS Juniors preparing for success!

BCHS juniors had a great start to ACT Math prep with Kristy Mann and Ashley Lovato, AMSTI-AU Grades 6–12 Math Specialists!

On day 1 students gained insight into the new ACT Math test design and received formula sheets to study (since they will not have access to one during the official test).

On day 2 students learned how to effectively use the DESMOS ACT calculator and worked through several ACT-like practice questions. BCHS photos.

Bullock County Humane Society pet of the week!

Diamond has spent most of her young life at the Bullock County Humane Society, and staff and volunteers can’t understand why. Despite being a sweet, affectionate dog with so much love to give, she continues to be overlooked by adopters.

Annual meeting to spotlight small town enthusiast

The joint annual meeting and luncheon of the Tourism Council of Bullock County (TCBC) and the Bullock County Chamber of Commerce will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8,  at the First United Methodist Church in Union Springs.
