The Bullock County Historical Society will meet July 12 at 2 p.m. at the Business Center on Conecuh. The citizens of Bullock County are encouraged to attend. Vice-President Dean Spratlan will present a program on the history of what was once the local National Guard. Former members are invited to attend.

The Bullock County Sheriff's Department is warning residents to be on alert after scammers began targeting Bullock County citizens by impersonating Sheriff Raymond Rodgers.
According to the Sheriff's Department, scammers have been calling residents while pretending to be the Sheriff or a Clerk of Court. During the calls, victims are falsely told they missed a scheduled court appearance or jury duty and must immediately pay a certain amount of money or face arrest.

At the June 23 County Commission meeting, the Bullock County Historical Society requested patriotic decoration for the exterior of the courthouse for the 250th Anniversary Celebration.
Chairman Alonza Ellis explained that the funds the county had received were donated to the City, so no county funds were available for the decorations. The commission discussed the possibility of using private donations, with the Historical Society ordering the supplies needed.

Churches from across Bullock County joined together on Saturday, June 27, for the “One Love” Day of Witnessing, a countywide outreach event dedicated to sharing the Gospel and encouraging unity throughout the community.

Summer is proving to be both educational and exciting for students participating in the Summer Enrichment Camp, where learning and laughter are combining to create lasting memories.
For nearly 16 months, Chance has been patiently waiting for someone to give him the forever home he deserves. After spending 474 days at the Bullock County Humane Society, shelter staff and volunteers hope this friendly brindle mix will finally find the loving family he has been waiting for.

The Union Springs Library hosted its 2026 Summer Reading Program titled “UnEarth A Story.” To motivate young people to enroll in the summer reading program, youth visitors to the library were given the opportunity to “Adopt a Dinosaur.” During the adoption process, the participants were issued an adoption certificate that required them to name the dinosaur.
Members of the Bullock County High School Class of 1978 hosted a fundraiser at the Bullock County Career Technical Center on Saturday, June 27, to help raise money for their upcoming 50th class reunion. As Union Springs residents prepare to celebrate Independence Day with family gatherings, fireworks, and travel, the Union Springs Police Department is stepping up patrols throughout the city and encouraging everyone to make safety a top priority.
The department released its weekly activity report this week, highlighting arrests, investigations, and officer activity while reminding motorists not to drink and drive during the busy holiday weekend.
