Mayor Roderick Clark concludes term, passes leadership to Mayor-Elect Ronald Smith

Union Springs City Mayor Roderick Clark officially concluded his term on November 3, 2025, passing the reins of leadership to Mayor-Elect Ronald Smith during the City Council meeting.

During his five years in office, Mayor Clark and his administration accomplished numerous milestones that have left a lasting impact on the community. Among his achievements, Clark oversaw the construction of the city’s first-ever council-built facility, the Union Springs Community Center on March Street.

The Union Springs City Council meeting, held at 6:00 p.m. in the courthouse basement on Tuesday, November 3, 2025, drew a standing-room-only crowd as residents gathered to witness the swearing-in of the city’s newly elected mayor and council members.

Armed robbery reported at Greenway Express Citgo

According to Union Springs Police Chief Johnny L. Potts III, an armed robbery occurred at the Greenway Express Citgo gas station on Tuesday, October 28, around 9:30 p.m.

Chief Potts stated that a single male suspect entered the store and robbed it at gunpoint, taking approximately $400 in cash. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Veterans Day is a national holiday in the United States celebrated on November 11, dedicated to honoring veterans and active military members.

Its origin began in 1918, marking the end of the First World War. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and became a federal holiday in 1938.

The Union Springs Police Department had an active week, working diligently to keep the community safe and peaceful.

According to Chief Johnny L. Potts, III, the department responded to multiple incidents and handled a variety of cases across the city. Chief Potts himself filed two reports during the week.

Bullock County Humane Society Pet of the Week

Ruby Bell is a young Lab mix with a heart full of love and a gentle spirit. This sweet and affectionate girl is new to the Bullock County Humane Society and simply wants to be close to someone who will give her the comfort and attention she deserves. Although she’s a bit nervous in the noisy shelter environment, Ruby Bell enjoys being held and shows a calm, friendly demeanor around the other dogs.

The Conecuh Springs Lady Eagles' volleyball season has officially wrapped up, marked by determination, overcoming injuries, and significant achievements for both the junior high and varsity squads under the dedicated guidance of Coach Jessie Adams. Both teams battled fiercely throughout their respective campaigns, demonstrating resilience and skill.
