“Enchanted Forest” comes to life at Bullock County High School Prom

Bullock County High School students stepped into a magical evening on Saturday, April 18, as the school hosted its annual Junior-Senior Prom under the theme “Enchanted Forest.” The event transformed an ordinary night into a fairytale experience, filled with elegance, excitement, and unforgettable memories.

Local leaders participate in 66th Annual ADC Convention

The Alabama Democratic Conference (ADC) convened its 66th Annual Convention on April 17–18 at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel. The convening brought together elected officials, candidates, and community stakeholders from across the state to engage in strategic discourse, civic alignment, and electoral preparation in advance of the upcoming election cycle.

Big changes in 30 minutes: Council tackles websites, safety, and city growth

The Union Springs City Council convened for its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., beginning promptly with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Lt. Gary Lewis. All council members were present, including Mayor Ronald Smith, Councilwoman Tiffany King, Councilman Stan Cooks, Councilwoman Erica Shepherd, Councilman Lynn Jinks III, Councilwoman SaQuania Cooper, and Assistant City Clerk Jasmine Streeter. City Attorney Ashley Mallory was absent due to a family emergency.

At the Bullock County Humane Society, one special pup is winning hearts and waiting for a place to call home. Koda, a beautiful and extremely friendly female pit bull–type dog, has quickly become a favorite among volunteers, who adore her gentle nature and loving personality.

Hornets win by mercy rule

After their recent 2-game losing streak (Charles Henderson 7-1; Dale County 1-0), the Hornets soccer team finished their regular season with a dominant performance. Bullock County traveled to Brundidge to face the Pike High School Bulldogs. They displayed superb defense, covering the field and trapping their opponent. On offense, they showed great ball movement with passing and blew past the Bulldogs’ defense with ease.

The Dancing Beats of Montgomery recently showcased their talent and determination at the Hush Battle 10th Annual and Farewell Dance Competition, bringing home multiple accolades and the coveted Grand Champion title.

Alabama Wildlife Center needs the public’s help to make the Wildlife Rehabilitation License Plate a reality

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With just two weeks left, Alabama Wildlife Center is in a final sprint to secure the last 300 pre-registrations needed to launch Alabama’s first-ever wildlife rehabilitation specialty car tag. Nearly 700 people have already signed up, but if the campaign does not reach 1,000 commitments by May 1, the tag will not be produced. The loss would be significant: the tag is expected to generate more than $40,000 annually for AWC’s wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and education programs.
