A beautiful snowy lake in Bullock County shared with us by Cara Sensing.

By Felicia Farnsworth

Union Springs and Bullock County residents awoke to an unusual and beautiful sight on Sunday morning, January 18, as a blanket of snow covered the area. Between the early morning hours of 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., approximately 1 to 2 inches of snow fell across the county, transforming familiar landscapes into a rare winter wonderland.

This marks the second year in a row that southern Alabama has experienced snowfall in January—an uncommon and memorable occurrence for the region. While the snowfall brought excitement and amazement, it was short-lived. As the sun rose, warmer temperatures quickly set in, and the delicate white covering slowly melted away, disappearing almost as quickly as it arrived.

Although brief, the snowfall left a lasting impression. Residents captured stunning photos throughout Union Springs, Bullock County, and surrounding areas, preserving the beauty of those fleeting winter hours.

Please enjoy the photos shared with us, showcasing this majestic moment that turned Bullock County white, if only for a little while.
