Union Springs Police continue proactive patrols during quiet week

The Union Springs Police Department continues its commitment to protecting and serving the community, reporting a relatively quiet week while maintaining a strong police presence throughout the city.

According to the department's weekly activity report, Chief Johnny L. Potts III responded to two incident/offense (I/O) reports. Cpl. Lewis also handled two I/O reports during the reporting period.

Officer Adamson remained busy, investigating one incident, serving one warrant, issuing two traffic citations, and arresting Kermit Todd on charges of Reckless Endangerment and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree. The department is also continuing its efforts to identify two individuals connected to an ongoing investigation.

Captain Gary Lewis responded to two incident/offense reports during the week. Officers Penn, Felder, and Harris reported no incidents during their assigned shifts.

Chief Potts stressed that a quiet report should not be mistaken for a lack of police activity. "The Union Springs Police Department is always working to make sure the citizens of Union Springs stay safe by patrolling the city and its jurisdictions," Potts said. "When you see an officer has nothing to report, it simply means no incidents occurred during that officer's shift. Our officers are still actively patrolling neighborhoods, conducting business checks, and working to prevent crime before it happens."

Potts also encouraged residents to continue partnering with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity. The department works closely with Crime Stoppers, and citizens who provide information that helps solve cases may be eligible for a reward. "If you have information about one of our cases, don't hesitate to contact Crime Stoppers,” Potts said. “Your tip could make a difference and may even qualify for a reward.”

The Union Springs Police Department reminds residents that community involvement remains one of the most effective tools in keeping Union Springs a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
