Hornets’ defense grounded Thunderbirds

Before the Labor Day weekend, the Hornets traveled to the Crampton Bowl in downtown Montgomery to face the Park Crossing High School Thunderbirds. Bullock County was looking forward to getting a win after losing a close battle to the Lanett Panthers (14-13). This game was another hard-fought battle for the Hornets.

Union Springs Elementary School celebrates positive behavior with parade

Union Springs Elementary School kicked off its annual Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program with a parade. The school was decorated in the county-wide colors of black and gold, with balloons welcoming students at the front door.

Bullock County Humane Society Pet of the week!

Leo lives away from the shelter with four other shelter dogs and they receive very little attention and time out of their kennels or in the public eye. This very sweet boy loves getting out of his kennel to take in all the smells and run around! He is so ready to have a place to call home, where he can be spoiled and loved for the rest of his life! Leo is neutered and up-to-date on his shots, including a one-year rabies vaccination, and he is on flea and heartworm prevention.

BCER/SPA shares 2024-25 annual proposal

The Bullock County Education Retirees/Support Personnel Association (BCER/SPA) has been busy all summer. A planning meeting was held on Wednesday, June 12, to organize the calendar of events for the school year 2024-25. On Thursday, July 18, Burnice P. Lowe and Margaret B. Jones attended the Annual District 7 Meeting, held at the Eastmont Baptist Church in Montgomery.

This requires us to keep our minds only on what we must get done today to keep our family afloat. In this mode, we become so automatic in our decisions, destinations and outcomes that we overlook those who are striving to provide some of those same services here.
