Pipe made exclusively in Alabama will be used in water projects at State Parks

Eufaula, AL - Alabama State Parks will be improved by using products made in Alabama.
Officials announced last week more than two dozen water and wastewater projects at Alabama State Parks. Many of these projects will use ductile iron pipe manufactured in Alabama. The projects are funded through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and administered by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM).

The Union Springs Herald has proudly brought home four awards from the 2025 Alabama Press Association (APA) Media Awards, announced during the annual APA Summer Convention banquet. Dee Ann Campbell, chairman of the APA Contest Committee, released the results following judging conducted by members of the Michigan Press Association.

Union Springs City Council hires new police officer to strengthen local force

The Union Springs City Council held a specially called meeting on Tuesday, June 24, at 6:00 p.m., led by Mayor Roderick Clark. Council members in attendance included Louis Murry, Stanley Cooks, and Eugene Faulk, along with City Clerk and Treasurer Terronda Hooks.

NFL player Devonta Davis hosts youth football camp in Bullock County

Bullock County native and NFL defensive lineman for the Indianapolis Colts, Devonta Davis, returned to his hometown on Saturday, June 28, 2025, to host a Youth Football Camp at Bullock County High School. The event, held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., brought together dozens of local youth for a morning of skill-building, encouragement, and fun.

Y.C. Nance Sports Foundation hosts successful smoker raffle to support local programs

The Y.C. Nance Sports Foundation recently held a raffle for a brand new barbecue smoker at the Bullock County Extension Office, located in the Richard B. Stone Complex.

The fundraiser brought in generous donations totaling $1,330. All proceeds will go toward the upkeep of the playground and the after-school program at South Highlands Middle School.

“Thank you very much for your donations and for participating in the event,” said Judge James Tatum, President of the Foundation.
