Jack, this adorable, friendly and loving boy has been at the shelter, along with his siblings Joey and Karly, since he was about three months old and he is now about one! Jack is neutered , heartworm negative, up-to-date on his shots, and is on heartworm and flea prevention. He is also dog-friendly. Someone must have room in their home and their heart for this boy who loves to give kisses!!
Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) has confirmed the presence of Africanized Honeybees (AHB) in Jackson and St. Clair Counties. Both finds were feral swarms collected by local beekeepers and have been euthanized to protect Alabama’s honeybees.

Union Springs Mayor Roderick Clark held a press conference at the Union Springs Police Department on Monday, July 1, approximately at noon. In attendance were USPD Chief Clarence Wheeler, Fire Chief Rob Cameron, City Councilman Stan Cooks, Mayor Roderick Clark, Barbara McLaurine representing the South Central Alabama Crimestoppers, and USPD Investigator Lt. Gary Lewis.

Union Springs Mayor Roderick Clark held a Mental health Awareness Fun Day on Sunday, June 30 at the Montgomery Street Park in Union Springs. The focus was to address mental health awareness in youth and young adults. The guest speaker for the event was Frederick Frost, a mental health professional that brought awareness to the community of Union Springs and Bullock County.

The month of June was designated as National Homeownership Month, and in honor of that celebration, the Alabama Coalition comprised of Councilman Eugene Faulk, Councilman Louis Murry, Roni Smith, Barbara McLaurine, Ronald Smith, Cynthia Jackson, Courtney Woodfaulk, Sonia Delbridge, Carrie Harris, and the D&E Group conducted a Housing and Economic Summit on June 15 at the Richard B. Stone Complex for the benefit of Bullock County citizens in need of affordable housing.

At the last City Council meeting held on June 17, discussion of a Fourth of July Celebration was brought up and a motion made to host a 4th of July Fun Day. The motion was approved and City Councilman Stan Cooks was placed in charge of conducting the festivities.
