A joyous occasion took place on New Year’s Eve for the youth, parents, and the people of Union Springs. On the last day of 2025, Union Springs resident and founder of the Men Who Care Organization, Donn Martin, hosted the “Shoot Da Ball, Not Da Gun” basketball event.
“Do you recognize these people?” asked Rahkia Nance, who shared this photo in hopes that someone might identify those pictured. The image, believed to have been taken in the 1950s or 1960s, comes from an album that belonged to her grandfather, Y.C. Nance. Cherry Blossom arrived at the shelter on September 13, 2023, and after more than two years, she is more than ready to find her forever home and become someone’s best friend.

The spirit of the holiday season came alive in Union Springs as local churches joined forces to create a beautiful, collaborative choir for the annual Live Nativity. This year’s performance brought together members from several congregations, showcasing the unity and fellowship of the community.
